As of late 2025, there is a newly-formed yoga accrediting organization, the American Yoga Council (AYC).
I am very excited about this new organization, because I am sincerely encouraged by their mission. Their credentialing system honors and places value in both education and experience, they are taking real steps to ensure accountability from yoga schools, and they have a goal of fostering sustainable incomes for career yoga instructors.
Following guidance from yoga philosophy (cultivate goodwill towards those who are virtuous*), I eagerly signed up to be a member, and went through the accreditation process for the Unnata Aerial Yoga Level 1 teacher training.
I truly believe the American Yoga Council is encouraging the yoga community as a whole to rise. And since Unnata Yoga is all about elevating our yogic practices both literally and metaphorically, we are proud to be a member. You can read more about AYC and their mission at: americanyogacouncil.com
