THE BEGINNING

Michelle Dortignac starts developing her aerial yoga class, later to be called “Unnata”

2006

January, 2006: Michelle debuts her aerial yoga class to the general public with regularly scheduled classes at SLAM Studio in Williamsburg (Brooklyn), NY

Michelle and Unnata Aerial Yoga mentioned for the first time in Yoga Journal magazine

2008

Unnata Aerial Yoga moves to Embody Language artist loft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and expands class schedule

2009

Debut of the Unnata Aerial Yoga Teacher Training Program. Three current Unnata course leaders were in this teacher training!

Unnata Yoga 5th Anniversary (2011)

Unnata Yoga celebrates the 5th anniversary of its inception back in January of 2006! The Unnata Teacher Training Program has been created, and Yoga teachers from around the country and the world are traveling to NYC to study the Unnata Method of Aerial Yoga.

Unnata Yoga makes its home base in New York City at Sacred Sounds Yoga in Greenwich Village

2011 First Unnata Aerial Yoga teacher training hosted outside of Brooklyn, NY; at Moyo Yoga in Skippack, PA

First internationally hosted Unnata Aerial Yoga teacher training course; at Centro Yoga Sadhana in Ciudad Real, Spain

2012

First Unnata Aerial Yoga Course Leader, Montse Lominchar leads course in Spain

Unnata Yoga featured at inaugural Nantucket Yoga Festival (and three times since)

2012-2013

Michelle leads Unnata Teacher Training courses in Greece, Finland, Russia, and Japan

2013

Michelle debuts the Unnata Advanced Teacher Training (Level 2) at The Yoga Studio in Campbell, CA

2014

First international Unnata Advanced Teacher Training (Level 2) in Ciudad Real, Spain

2014 -2015

Michelle and Unnata Course Leaders present International Unnata Teacher Training courses to yoga teachers in Iceland, India, Canada, Finland

2015

Unnata Founder Michelle Dortignac is the featured guest teacher in Yoga Journal magazine (Aug/Sept)

Unnata Yoga 10th Anniversary (2016)

Unnata Yoga celebrates its 10th anniversary! Along with a small group of senior course leaders, Unnata continues to lead Teacher Training programs in the USA and around the world.

2016 -2017

International Unnata Teacher Training courses presented to yoga teachers in Malaysia, Slovenia, Taiwan, and Hungary

2017 -2018

International Unnata Teacher Training Level 1 and Level 2 courses presented to yoga teachers in Northern Ireland, Spain, and Israel

Unnata Yoga 15th Anniversary (2021)

Unnata Yoga celebrates the 15th anniversary of its inception back in January of 2006! This year also saw the launch of the Unnata Level 3 course, offered exclusively in an online format.

2021-2022

International Unnata Teacher Training Level 1 and Level 2 courses presented to yoga teachers in Spain and Iceland

2023

Unnata Yoga launches brand new website on UnnataYoga.com along with separate new membership educational website.

Unnata Yoga Keeps on Growing

2023: As Unnata Yoga enters its 18th year, Michelle continues to develop the Unnata Method of Aerial Yoga, and is constantly updating the course. Michelle and the Unnata course leaders continue to lead teacher training programs in the US and around the world.
