Elevate what’s possible from your practice.

Workshop Overview

Many aerial yoga positions, especially the more advanced ones, require a great amount of physical exertion. And sometimes, the support of the hammock squeezes our body in a way that restricts the breath. In this workshop, you will first learn various breathing techniques to practice both on and off the hammock which will help you establish and/or maintain deep breathing. Then, we’ll practice applying what we’ve learned to challenging aerial yoga positions.

How this workshop will help you

We all know how important breathing is for survival. And yet, rarely do any of us practice breathing exercises to improve our unconscious tendencies.

This workshop will help train your body to breathe more deeply, take longer breaths, and to dissolve stress by supporting your parasympathetic nervous system (our “rest and digest” mechanism). When you feel less stressed, your body’s various parts and systems function more efficiently. You’ll think more clearly, feel healthier, and avoid the onset of stress-related illnesses. This is in addition to the increased strength and flexibility aerial yoga gives you!

Long-lasting Benefits From This Workshop

A focus on the breath is the hallmark of classic yoga, and eventually leads practitioners to successfully meditate. Over time and with practice, a yoga/meditation practice can help people manage a long list of physical and mental/emotional discomforts such as: anxiety, depression, insomnia, high blood pressure and tension headaches, to name a few.

“What you share with us, your knowledge and wisdom, is truly incredible!”

Enroll In Aerial Yoga Breathing

Unnata® Aerial Yoga is the original aerial yoga method created by a yogi, for students (and teachers) who love yoga. The Unnata method weaves use of the hammock into a traditional Hatha Yoga class to enhance and refine a traditional floor yoga practice. Considered more of a “hammock assisted” yoga class than an “aerial” yoga class, students unwind old physical patterns, reset their body’s true alignment, and learn deeper body awareness in multi-dimensional space. Unnata Yoga classes ground as much as elevate, and balance both earth and air.

Unnata is real Yoga, elevated.

Michelle Dortignac, founder of Unnata® Aerial Yoga, is credited with developing the entire genre of aerial yoga. She is an E-RYT 500 certified Yoga instructor of over 25 years, while during a large portion of those years also being a professional aerial acrobatics performer. Her most influential Yoga teachers include Dharma Mittra, Alan Finger, Cyndi Lee, Susan Braham and Nishit Patel.

Since its inception in 2006, Unnata Aerial Yoga led the growth of popularity and the continued development of aerial yoga. Today the Unnata Aerial Yoga Teacher Training program is world renowned for its high standards, high-quality training. Participants receive large amounts of personalized instruction, and graduates receive a great amount of continuing support.
